The Wilder Middle and High School Counseling Department is preparing for the Idaho Youth Well-Being (IYWB) Survey, which will be given to middle and high school students in mid-October.
Most families have already returned their permission forms. However, a few families still have forms outstanding, so please keep an eye out for a permission form coming home with your student this week.
If you need another copy of the permission form, please contact Mrs. Sanders, Middle/High School Counselor.
What is the IYWB Survey?
The survey is voluntary and anonymous. It asks students about areas such as:
Their mental and emotional well-being
Social media use
Trusted adults and people they can turn to for support
Their connection to school and community
Other experiences that can affect their well-being
Why Does Student Feedback Matter?
We want to hear directly from our students about their experiences and what they need to feel supported, connected, and successful.
Last year, our students' responses helped us identify that some students were feeling isolated and disconnected from the community. Because our students shared their experiences, we were able to secure grant funding to help address those needs.
That funding has helped support:
Casita improvements to serve as a community/youth facility
Cooking classes
Mexican Bingo nights
Sewing classes
College mentor nights
Other community programs and opportunities
When students share their experiences, we can use what we learn to improve our resources and seek funding for the things our students need.
Please encourage your student to answer the survey honestly. Their individual responses are anonymous, and their voices can help make a real difference in our school and community.
Thank you for partnering with us and helping us listen to our students.
Questions or need another permission form?
